"Heaven smiles on me now and then but the devil always had hooks in" is one of the best lines i've heard.
There's a clip of them playing Fear and Trembling live with a younger Bryan Garris doing the guest vocals
Man Low Teens is also fucking awesome. Might like this one even more than Radical even if (so far) I prefer the lyrics on that one
Had completely forgotten about that! The man is just the best, I have to go through everything he's played in. Top two things that come to mind outside of Norma Jean for me is Disambiguation (which for me is by several long miles the best UO has ever been, sad that was just a moment in time) and The Colour Revolt's The Cradle - the drums are really fun in that one, amazing record overall.
I respect most rankings because of how consistently good this band is, but I don't know if I can trust anyone that has New Junk Aesthetic in the bottom half of their list
It has (very) high highs and I don’t dislike it by any means, but it’s just not usually what I’m reaching for when I’m listening to ETID. Also, Ex Lives stays underrated. That album rips.
This band is a lot like Deftones in that I think whenever you got into them typically will dictate your favorite albums/era. That just speaks to the quality of the music across their catalog.
So now knowing that Oasis finally reunited on stage I’m now hopeful that ETID will eventually get there.
I think it was Andy who posted a little tribute to Michael Madsen after he passed last week who was in the video for Kill The Music
this video was the first thing I ever saw by this band because norma jean posted about it in a MySpace bulletin. Classic. RIP
Hot Damn! after I heard a couple songs of theirs on a Ferret Records sampler disc I got at a A Static Lullaby show
I think the first song I heard from them was technically The New Black but back before I actually truly got into them, and then it was Decayin' with the Boys for when I went full in
I liked "The New Black" because of Guitar Hero, but my first real memory was "Wanderlust" getting added to my college radio station's rotation, but we could only play it after 7pm because it was heavy, haha.
Technically I saw them live first and they opened with "Roman Candle," but I think the first thing I hit play on form them was The Big Dirty
