I dig the chorus hook but there needs to be a better transition into it from the verses because wow is that jarring
I really like this song. If you told me this was a new ETID track, I’d believe you. Sounds like it could’ve been on ‘Radical’.
Music is very derivative, vocals are pretty great/classic Keith. Hard not to compare the new bands. Better Lovers seems to have more heart and soul.
Echoing other people’s sentiments: Keith sounds great/hook is really good, instrumental sounds like it was made for an Ibanez tech demo or something
This past weekend I was running a marathon and quite a few songs from Radical played throughout the race. I might be off my rocker, but there were way more clean parts on the record than I recall from the couple of times I listened to it in full. I was one of the people that didn't really listen to the record a ton because of everything happening. I also thought some of the lyrics Keith used weren't too far from what he is doing with Many Eyes. It makes sense that both bands are just doing what they normally do without the other piece, but I kind of thought (hoped) each project would try something a little different. But again, I was listening to some of these Radical songs again in not the best context to maybe compare them or whatnot.
I did my only ever race, an 8k, while listening to Radical and I subjected myself to a recurring injury, I think in part b/c that album pumps me up so much that I went out way too fast lol.
for the longest time, Wanderlust was my go to ETID song for running, then Petal replaced it. Just relentless and pounding at just the right pace to push me on.
I pretty much exclusively listen to ETID when I run. There's no other band that can keep me going like them. Just a pick a record and let it rip.
I also want to clarify and say that I don't want my previous post to be critical or anything. I like the music to Better Lovers and Keith seems excited about Many Eyes. I was just surprised, with songs from both projects out, and then hearing some of the Radical material again, how both projects are a continuation of Radical more than a reset. And I think that surprise from me stemmed from the fact that I hadn't been consistently listening to Radical when it released.
I need to listen to Radical again soon too. All the drama surrounding it put a sour taste in my mouth for it, and even though I know it ruled, I didn't listen to it as much as I should have.
I would consider Radical a flawless 10/10 album if it was just the first 10 songs I like the other 6 but I think the record falls off a bit after AWOL It's been awhile though I'll have to revisit soon
Distress Rehearsal is one of the best songs on the album. That breakdown at the halfway point is too good. I do think the last couple songs are the weakest though.
I love the whole album except for the last song. The weird chaotic part in the middle throws me every time. I would love to nix that song and have the album end with the melodic part extended on People Verses.
