Cult is probably my least favorite song on here but it's still fantastic and I agree with your interperation @Jakob Allen
Lets fight lol, it is making its case to be my favorite from the record. I kid I kid, it is pretty tough to pick a favorite from this album, because the songs all bring something different to the table, yet, they carry similar themes and styles. Kind of hard to describe what I mean. Its like the old saying "comparing apples to oranges", except in this case you're actually trying to pick a favorite fruit.
TBD is my number one, followed by HD. EL and NJA are in the middle, and GP, LNIT, and FPU rounded out the bottom (I will say that I do like them all, but some I love and some I just like more than others). This one will probably slot somewhere in the top 3, but there's a bit of recency bias there, so I'll temper that a bit and just say that it's very good and combines all the things I like about ETID into one album.
It's hard for me to grasp FPU not being the number one by now, both in general terms or how the production sounds. It's near perfect, to me.
I'd still put FPU at number one for now, but it took me a while to get into it. Low Teens is more immediate to me, but I expect it to get better over time once I learn all the intricacies
To me it was always Hot Damn at #1. I remember waiting for that album to be released. It absolutely blew me away. Every album after was amazing, and I adore all of them, but until Low Teens, nothing could push HD out of the spot.
C++, Coin, and Religion of Speed are probably my favorites so far. They revealed some killer tracks early.
GP, Hot Damn!, Big Dirty for me. This one might bump one out though. They sort of lost me after NJA but I feel like this album is them fully realizing what they wanted after switching it up from The Big Dirty.
The three tiers to me would be Low Teens Ex Lives Big Dirty From Parts New Junk Gutter Hot Damn Last Night In Town
They've more or less gotten better with each album to me, Low Teens notwithstanding because I haven't heard it yet.
Yeah, I basically think they get better with every release but my ranking of the albums has solely to do with the amount of songs that I specifically go back to on a regular basis
