ILL BE WAITING WITH A SUITCASE WHEN THE DEVIL COMES FOR ME, ONE IF BY LAND TWO IF BY SEA. classic Buckley
Okay this is very good. There is so much to take in. Keith has always been great lyrically; that said, he is on another level here. I feel awful commenting on how good the lyrics are knowing they're coming from a place of absolute hell. But wow. Wow. Wow. For personal reasons I don't think he will top "Idiot," but as a whole this album destroys, and that juxtaposes his situation at the time.
The closing lines of Idiot are some of my favorite as well, starting with the "all I want is for everyone to go to hell..." line. That entire album shifts into focus at the moment, its weird. This album is def in top 5 for the year.
All I want is for everyone to go to hell It's the last place I was seen before I lost myself All I want is for everyone to come to hell There we can be free and learn to love ourselves. Since that album came out those lyrics spoke to me. Thankfully I live in Buffalo, so I got to see them play most of that album live two years ago. My girlfriend and I went to a last minute show at like 11 or midnight, and it was insane. She actually got a concussion from it because of all the stage divers.
Threw the album on on my way to work, got through all of it except Map Change because I had to punch in. Lame. Also, boom, called it. ETID is sponsoring Chorus this week!
Listened to it once through great headphones, and once blasting it in the car on the way to class. I'm already going to say it: it's my AOTY so far.
Guys, seriously, how good is Map Change? I really cant get over how good this album is. Two Summers finally clicked for me as well. It really has an Ex Lives feel to it. I really cant wait to hear the b-sides on Friday!
Map Change is some next-level shit. Didn't think they could match Indian Giver and Idiot for amazing closing tracks, but they dun diddit.
I'm assuming Two Summers is the song Andy was referring to about the "rock song" he wishes was a bside. Also I want to know the specific part in what song they were talking about where Daniel does this super technical drum movement. I don't have an ear like that to tell what's what in regards to technicality. It's all hard to do for me, haha. (Referring to the pudcast btw)
The intro to Fear and Trembling sounds so sinister, that little harmonic is so perfect. It sets such a dark tone for the record.
Every time I listen I hear something new. I take something new from a song. I can't seem to shut up about it haha
Just cave, the quality is pretty good for 128. Don't put yourself through another week of waiting! Additionally, I am super anxious to hear your thoughts. I already got to hear @CoffeeEyes17 s thoughts, along with all the others who have been waiting with us. So, yeah, I would recommend listening to the leak!
I saw a video of Awful Lot from the show, and they didnt have a sample of it at the end, I was sad, but that song still rips so hard. Credit to aslongasbassstrings at Reddit/r/everytimeidie
It still has a lot of punch when I play it in my car. and I just downloaded it straight to my phone. haha I wont keep pushing you to do it though. You're in for a real treat on Friday. Just dont listen to that Awful Lot video I posted until youve heard the studio version. You will appreciate that song so much more hearing it transition from Two Summers.
On the 4th playthrough and Petal still choked me up and brought tears to my eyes. I hope that never goes away.
That song is brutal, so glad I only listened to the live version once. Petal made me want to break out my bass, which I havent played for about 5 years. Hearing Keiths thought process about life, with that wicked little bass line and occasional guitar strums.. so good
