The last three lines of Petal are the most heartbreaking lines I've heard all year, barring the new Touche Amore album.
It's a computer coding language (which everyone here probably already knows) and the lyrics are about speaking to / pleading with machines, so I assume that's the reference.
Haven't been online since Friday afternoon since I'm in the middle of moving, but I just got on and saw this leaked. About to take a break from packing and drive around with this blaring for the next hour or so.
On the first listen, but Just as Real but Not as Brightly Lit is the early standout. Holy crap it blew me away.
I won't say this band outdoes themselves with every release, because I thought Hot Damn was damn near perfect until From Parts Unknown came out. But this album, wow. It sounds like an ETID record, but the songwriting is raised to another level. Maybe it's having 3 different drummers over their album cycles? I'm not sure, but that has to have some influence over the song writing process. Either way, this may end up going down as my favorite release of theirs.
Did Daniel Davison record on this album? Because he's one of the best drummers in the genre. Just listen to disambiguation for proof of that.
That Fear and Trembling riff is total 2000s metalcore throwback. Sounds like something Coalesce would write. I'm really bummed with Dillinger coming to an end we won't get a Dillinger/ETID/Converge tour. I feel like that was always a tour destined to happen.
Just as Real is going to be nuts live. I kinda breezed passed that one the first handful of listens but I'm really digging it today. God dang this album is really really good.
yeah. gotta say though, dillinger's upcoming tour is about as good as it gets for me. obrother and cult leader as openers? im about to go the fuck off
