I tried listening to their new EP song and couldn't get through it. Much respect to other Eve 6 fans who are enjoying this stuff...your parameters for what makes an Eve 6 song an Eve 6 song are much wider than mine, I guess.
Agree. The three songs released in some form from the EP have all been ... not my thing ... and not very Eve 6. He has Fitness for a reason, and I wish he’d use it for stuff like this.
"Combine" starts at 1:14:30 here: And there's an acoustic version of "I Wanna Bite Your Face" here: "Combine" is the best of the three and feels the most like "It's All In Your Head," I guess, but his singing and inflection on these new songs is kinda left field in a lot of spots and makes them feel very jarring.
Thanks! I had no idea. These songs are something else! Max said in one of the recent interviews that they've always wanted to do some roots-punk style stuff, so I can respect that they had fun doing this. I wouldn't mind if any future releases brought back more of their signature sound though haha
morbid curiosity got the best of me so I listened to the new songs and I gotta say I am completely vindicated for this post

I'm new to Eve6's music. Found them through picking up Horrorscope second hand recently and thought it was a ton of fun. I somehow missed this new single when I was reading up on the band and listening to their other albums doing research for this throwback album review I just put together. In order for me to get better connected with my music collecting addiction, this past year I've been making goofy second hand CD reviews of the new-to-me albums I find at thrift shops. Mostly nostalgic 90's crap that surprised me or I had unhealthy biases towards. I'm stoked to have found these guys, hopefully they can come out with another great record soon!
It was decent. Predictable setlist but it was nice seeing them perform again. I've never been a huge fan of Max's live vocals and this was no exception. He plays around with his vocal delivery so much that to me it comes across like he has a "too cool" attitude toward the music.
The set was: How Much Longer Promise Think Twice Black Nova Leech Anytime Open Road Song Superhero Girl Here's To The Night Amphetamines Can We Combine Inside Out
Ya the preview clip was enough for me to decide to pass. His singing in that clip was what you described and I wasn't sold.
Yeah. Thankfully when I saw them in 2003, 2004, and 2012 he didn't fuck around with his delivery so much.
