The songs are much better than their last album, imo. Amazing? No but enough to pull me back in and I hope they had the songs mixed/mastered/polished up.
listened to the new album this morning. and yeah, it was good, but nothing really caught my ear enough to be like "oh i need to save this song!"
This isn't offensively bad like the last album and EP, but at it's very best it's still just pretty boring and uninteresting
I'd say my favorites are I Don't Wanna Know, No Better, Alright, and Even Though. Also think the songs clicked with me more when listening to the album in it's (now) official sequencing than in the order that they were released on Patreon.
well this is pretty wild, Max is going to play bass for Fountains of Wayne at these upcoming festivals
Fountains of Wayne’s S/T is one of the most underrated rock records of the 1990’s IMO. I love that record so much and wish FOW were more recognized/celebrated beyond “Stacy’s Mom”. RIP Adam
Saw them live on Monday with Titus Andronicus. They were great, but I was bummed they mostly played old stuff lol. I knew what I was in for though, and it was still a fun show.
I saw them Wednesday. Both bands were really fun. Agreed, it would've been nice to see some more new tunes sprinkled in, but they know where their bread is buttered haha
I did think it was nice that they did one tune from each release (except Hyper Relevisation) even though everything else was from the first two records. Thought it was interesting that Max introduced "Curtain" as "the only good song from our 4th studio album."
lol at the "Curtain" comment. Definitely not true, though. "Lost & Found," "Pick Up The Pieces" and "Moon" are good. Also really liked "Red and Black" from the deluxe. I'd take most of the songs over the dreck of the new stuff.
I really love Pick Up the Pieces. There's also some stuff on that record that is pretty infectious despite the lyricism being a little juvenile. Victoria, Situation Infatuation, and BFGF come to mind.
A few hundred people came out in Towson, MD on a Wednesday night. Not sold out, but pretty full house!
If they do a Horrorscope 25 tour this year to make up for the Covid cancelled 20 year tour, I'll buy tickets instantly. The first tour they did post-Covid in 2022 with a straightforward setlist was a blast.
