Can We Combine sounds like it was recorded inside an oven and then mixed by Max Bemis These guys need to take a 3EB class on how to translate your sound 20 years into the future
Weird. For some reason, I thought Horrorscope was generally the fan favorite. The top half of the album is staaaacked with some of their best jamz.
Ok yeah, that's what I always thought as well. I think the first 3 albums are each at least half great. I go to Horrorscope the most though. Like I said, the first half of that album is banger after banger. It slaps and spanks or whatever haha.
Horrorscope was my first Eve 6 album and even though I enjoy most of the debut I've never connected with it like their other material. Horrorscope > It's All in Your Head > Speak in Code > Eve 6
Horrorscope and It’s All In Your Head are both so good. It’s a shame IAIYH crashed and burned after one single. Speak in Code on the other hand is alright for a comeback album. Does what the other albums did but just not as good. They just should have followed it up with something better in like 2014/2015. Based on the poor crowd size at the Speak in Code show I went to in 2012 I’m not surprised they decided to just move forward touring the hits though.
Shame they got dropped from RCA after the release of Think Twice and At Least We're Dreaming. Girlfriend was set to be the third single.
Yeah I was probably being generous, but then again Tropic Scorpio and Ways were way better than 3EB should still be churning out 25 years into it I really liked Horrorscope, saw these guys play at Casino Regina a few years back, which is a sentence that should explain itself, and they were weirdly cocky and offputting, the hits were cool though The production level is definitely an odd choice
lol I don’t know why you’re so against the new material. Can We Combine is underwhelming, totally, but I dig Black Nova. Either way, it’s great that Eve6 is still making music even if the EP does end up disappointing.
There's a full-length coming later this year. Wondering if this EP is indicative of what that'll sound like or a way of releasing some of the songs that don't fit the album.
Probably this style. Tony was the one who pushed them to a poppy, slick direction, so I imagine with him gone, they’ll continue to chase this.
Just spun the vinyl twice (it's 13 minutes long haha). It's not classic Eve 6, but it's short and fun and goofy, which seems like what they were going for. The last two tracks are marginally poppier than the three that were previously released. Like @mattylikesfilms said, just glad these guys are still doing stuff.
I like black nova and I wanna bite your face. The rest I could do without.. but I’m still excited to hear a full length eventually!
