S2 was fun to follow in real time but ultimately feels empty on a rewatch. It's like they threw the characterization and plot away for shock moments / meme baiting. Really hope S3 can turn this around, especially if it's the final season as rumored.
I think Levinson's material is great when it focuses on Zendaya and pretty terrible when it focuses on everyone else - especially Sydney. The one long episode in S2 that focused on Rue and the stolen drugs was so good.
Yeah, it’s insane what a movie star factory that became. I feel like the only thing they could do at this point with all of those schedules is maybe do a movie to tie it all up.
yeah seems unlikely because like last week Sydney said it was still on, but Sam is also capable of not telling people it's canceled lol
Most of the cast is pushing late 20's and will probably be in their 30's by the time it comes back. they might as well just set season 3 10 years later at their reunion at this point lol
They are clearly trying to make a lot of the cast movie stars so I agree I don't see this coming back.
I can see now why a show like The Bear whose main cast also is getting a movie star push is filming their next two seasons back to back.
It's Sam's fault and kinda hbo coddling him too, if Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman can make tv work there's clearly a disorganization problem
i think most of that ended in the "prestige" era when movie actors weren't wanting to get locked down quite as long and especially so with the streamers
The more I think about it, I think people don't really want a Season 3 of Euphoria as much they want a Season 2 that was good. I think Season 1 gave me the impression that Sam Levinson was an auteur pushing boundaries to tell an meaningful story that deserved to get out. I think Season 2 made us come to realize he was just making shit up as he went along for edgy spectacle. I now believe that even if Sam had a poignant ending in mind for this saga, some statement about addiction and love and adolescence, the moment to make that statement has passed. I genuinely believe Season 1 was a piece of art that needed to be made, but I don't know what Season 3 can do to carry its legacy, especially following Angus Cloud's passing.
People absolutely want a Season 3, you gotta get out of your internet wormhole, this show is a massive hit
I wasn't saying people aren't asking for or excited for a Season 3. What I was trying to say is that I just don't think the Season 3 we'll get is gonna be the show I see people assuming it will be. It's not gonna magically erase the flaws with Season 2, which seems to be what people were hoping it could do: be one last season to tie up all the loose ends, fix all the plot holes, and give a satsifying ending to Rue & Jules' stories. But if there's a time jump, that probably won't happen. It will probably set up a bunch of new nonsensical plotlines which people will complain about on Twitter for months on end, and set this already unstable ship in motion indefinitely.
