I was leaning towards that being the case but wasn't sure. It was such a nice moment between those two characters.
This episode exposed this season’s (and show?) flaws more than any other. I’ve come to terms with its surrealism and lack of any logical plot structure, so some things that have been criticized didn’t bother me as much, but the disjointedness of it all was way too apparent here. When the tension was building during the Fezco portion and it felt like shit was about to go down any second, but for some reason they suddenly cut to Nate’s subplot, it felt cheap to me. The Elliott scene lost its impact the longer it went on, and the execution was so forced it took me out of it too. Sometimes it really feels like I’m watching a show that is suffering from both under and over editing/writing, and that they’re all making it up as they go. I still found enjoyment in the finale though. It helps that the online fanfare around it helps it feel like a shared event. I haven’t felt that about any show since GOT. On the other side, I’m also worried that they’re going to exaggerate its quirks even more so that the show keeps getting meme’d, to the detriment of more important and fixable issues.
definitely the right decision, losing Fez would have been more devastating but I'm glad he's sticking around
Sam Levinson with some casual day-of tweaks for his hit series he definitely knows what he wants to do with
It's almost like every tv show ever where changes are made last minute to scripts, but you just don't hear about it publically...
I know I work in television I’m just a certified Levinson hater now I think lol Although based on that report a couple weeks ago, it’s fairly clear he often shows up having no idea what he wants to do and it’s obvious in the product
After Malcolm & Marie, Sam Levingston should have been put in jail. And yet I watched this whole season of Euphoria anyway. There's some amazing stuff but also some terrible stuff. I guess thats just what this show is with him at the helm
Alright, the more I think about this season, the more I feel this season could've benefited from a rewrite -Ash's death is robbed of so much weight because we barely got to know him. He only spoke in two scenes all season. Giving him more speaking lines, especially by letting him interact with Fez, Faye, & Lexi could've added more layers to his personality. -The Fexi ship is perhaps the biggest waste of the whole season. You have these two adored characters, hint they're gonna start a relationship in episode one, then the story immediately drops it. Most of their interaction is in flashbacks in the last 3 episodes, and is only really shown to retcon in a relationship to make Fez' arrest seem more tragic. -Too many scenes of Cassie & Nate fucking or fighting. It's a ship no one liked, and the writers didn't try hard enough to make Cassie seem sympathetic at all. They should've cut it way down in episodes 2 & 3. -Elliot's character was useless to the story. The audience overwhelmingly hated him because they saw his relationship with Jules as a retcon to her lesbian awakening. When Jules cheated with him in episode 4, it made the audience hate both characters more, but was never acknowledged again. -Jules had no arc. She started emotionally dependant on Rue, and ended emotionally dependant on Rue. All that changed is she lost Rue, and cheated on her, but her underlying character stayed the same. -They should've cut Kat completely. Her scenes in Episode 2 & 6 were good, but had no cohesion with either the overall story or her arc in the previous season, and was just distracting.
Why the hell was Rues special episode not in the actual season, a little overwrought but one of the best episodes of the show
Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but the made those two episodes when COVID restrictions were the strictest and couldn't film actual episodes yet
Yeah I watched the BTS thing after, but I was being more rhetorical haha. It really gives way more context to Rue’s psychology and more time with Ali is always welcome. It felt like a “statement piece” of the heart of the show imo
