I don’t really follow rap closely at all, but like, aren’t there some pretty good British rappers out there? lol. I know I’ve enjoyed Little Simz when I’ve dabbled in her stuff.

Anyways. Maybe this should be dropped or moved to the bad opinions thread, lol, idk.

haven’t had a chance to listen to the album yet, picked it up at the local record store yesterday tho so tonight I will be doing my first listen on vinyl. I think I listened to one of the singles once, but I can’t really remember it at all, so I’m basically going in entirely blind. I actually did the same for Preacher’s Daughter as well, hadn’t listened to it until a few months ago when I picked up the record.

    - Uniformly beautiful album. Feels like she was able to dive deep into the dissonant, darker side of her sound with Perverts, and puts that yearning cinematic beauty and melancholy she's so singularly good at front and center on this one

    - Read somewhere that the "Fuck Me Eyes" arrangement is what Jack Antonoff thinks he's doing

    - The Vietnam line in Dust Bowl sounds like a joke on paper, but on record that drop stopped me in my tracks; she has such a keen feel for tension and release without making that type of writing and structure feel repetitive

    - Drives me nuts when I see comments (not really here) like "the 'real songs' are good" and completely dismiss the instrumental tracks. All of them are essential! "Radio Towers" especially is a stunner, "Hand Covers Bruise" vibes

I'm not even a hip hop listener and to claim the ENTIRE GENRE lacks those things/promotes that type of behavior is just a...wildly....outdated take.

She has a project called "Perverts" and many other things that mock Christianity, like an album called "Preacher's Daughter" that is just straight up blasphemous. It's about churches abusing women

lol it's blasphemy to tell the truth isn't it?
