Gorgeous track. I'm mentally preparing myself for the tiktok kids claiming ethel cain reinvented shoegaze.
this is gonna be track 3, right before Nettles. looks like Apple Music has track lengths for the whole album 1. (5:00) 2. (4:44) 3. Fuck Me Eyes (6:05) 4. Nettles (8:04) 5. (7:27) 6. (6:27) 7. (5:24) 8. (5:12) 9. (10:01) 10. (15:16) total runtime: 73:39 - about 2 minutes shorter than Preacher's Daughter
i'm upset because i move into my new apartment the day the album comes out, so i haven't been able to preorder the vinyl yet since i don't have a unit number (plus it'd be weird to have mail waiting for me when i first show up, lol)
funny that the two shortest songs on this album are five minutes and only just barely under five minutes
It’s also funny that she says she hates American teenager but this is the closest she’s come to replicating that sound I’d say, great song
the suspicion is that the closing track is fan-favorite Waco, Texas, which she shared a demo of several years ago and at one point said was 20 minutes long
Oh, I didn't know this. She'd better keep it in the setlist for the European tour! One of her best songs.
I don't think she actually hates the song itself as much as she just hates some of the things that song has led to.
I agree that this is the closest she’s gotten to the vibes of “American Teenager,” at least sonically if not as much songwriting-wise. Anyways. Song is fucking fantastic. These prerelease tracks are somehow making me even more excited for this album.
i was really soft on her debut album and Perverts, but these two tracks have been incredible. they wed the sparkle and shine of "American Teenager" to her longer, shoegaze-y music so well.
