I don’t believe the take that this album is primarily this way out of spite. Feels pretty clear that Ethel genuinely loves this kinda spooky ambient drone shit and is comfortable working in that space. I do imagine her having a good laugh at segments of her fandom being all “what the fuck is this,” though, lol. Agree with the earlier comment that I now want to see her score a moody horror movie.
Yep. She literally has *one, single* pop song for conceptual reasons and folks act like that’s the kind of music she wants to make.
I put this on last night while driving and it definitely enhanced the experience more than just sitting in my room. It’s still not something I’ll listen to in full very often but I’m glad we have Punish, Vacillator, and Amber Waves. Those songs are some of the best stuff she’s done.
I don't really know anything about this artist but I am hearing this is good and heavy on the ambient side of things so I will listen at some point
three tracks in (had heard Housofpsychoticwomn a few years ago when she put it on YouTube/SoundCloud). this is really disturbing in the best way.
this was fantastic. didn't really feel like 89 minutes, but i definitely understand how the length and sonic nature of the songs will be a turn off for many.
also read somewhere today that her next goal for 2025 is to finish the Preacher's Daughter B-sides project
I might do this for the fun of it and i like the idea of something weird and droney. Don’t necessarily need to be led in gently with stuff like that
Yeah honestly what I think @OotyPa should do They already said why they wanted to hear this so why not hear this and then hear everything else
