The songs make a prequel to the story she created for Preacher’s Daughter. Would imagine some of the songs were started in the process of the album but it didn’t ended up fitting in the storyline she decided on when they finished the tracklist. And will assume she wrote some additional songs depending how much was left over.
i think i might be misunderstanding your comment here, Steve, so feel free to comment if what i say doesn't make sense. Morgan is correct. it's just a set of songs she wrote during PD that she decided wouldn't make the final cut for that album (the tracklist originally had 17 songs, but she wrote more than that for the album). they were all written during that time period and planned to eventually be released as a standalone companion to PD, but she's spent the past few years tweaking them before releasing them. she originally called it an EP but i guess it's album-length now. more info here: Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You
Two “new albums” in one year sounds fantastic to me, no matter how many caveats or whatever they both have, lol.
