a handful of these songs are really good at least. i think this album starts and ends kinda weak but cicada siren through lucid threshold is a really solid run and there are other bangers here and there like gore and wolf. feel like id be more positive on this if they didnt do the trilogy thing but it doesnt really amount to something greater than the sum of its parts hoping whenever the deluxe comes it helps kinda fill in the gaps for me. these were apparently super prolific sessions for them so i am pretty curious what all the overall material they had to work with. they sound pretty excited about the stuff theyre saving for later
I could see them using a b side from the recording of this album for that Warframe collab that's been teased. They also got to visit Bungie after people on twitter told a sound guy there that ERRA should do a song for Marathon (I don't think they'll do a song for Marathon, but it would be cool since they'd probably work with Son Lux on it). I'm still surprised they haven't announced anything for the UK/EU yet. I know some people who are fiending for their fix lol
garrison is working on a redux of fated design with alan! he has a really cool ama on instagram where he talks about his future with music as well talking about erra a little bit. he is a very big fan of the self titled album which makes me extremely happy. in his own words: "when i heard that album i was like, this is the music we wanted to make when we were in the band"
that and their members past and present being pals too. the day self titled dropped i remember seeing jt say something about how he and garrison went out drinking that night some days i think about what it would be like if these guys ever dropped an album akin to haste the day's coward and had everyone past and present contributing to it. that probably would be the greatest album ever created in human history
Warframe AMV featuring Crawl Backwards Out of Heaven (which I know was the last album) and they will be appearing Digital Extremes DevShorts #100 next week.
spirals a better song than i remembered, that ones got a lot of good stuff going on. still not big on jts clean verse but the rest is stellar. feels like a brighter version of rumor of light with an american football riff in the middle lol. i also like the contrast between it and many names
as much as that would not be the erra setlist for me lmao vianova and chamber is the best opening combo they have had in a while
tried giving this another shot and think i like it even less : ( it still really only compels me for like an eps length on the flipside though i gave self titled and cure another jam for the first time in a while and they are both still very firmly among my favorite albums of the decade, and for completely different reasons no less. was afraid that what they are in general was growing off me but i dont really think that is the case. their songwriting skills on self titled especially still hold up immensely both in and out of the genre so it gives me hope they can swing back around, but idk, they are so all in on this that its hard for me to be optimistic about that
