this is growing on me a little. when it clicks into focus it is really good. im a really big fan of cicada siren even if it is the djentiest thing ive ever heard from them thus far
It's a good album and the songs translated well live. I think I need to play it front to back a couple of times (I skipped some of the singles I overplayed), but I vibe with it on first listen. It's ERRA being ERRA. Nothing crazy but solid.
It's worth it as it's a true coheadliner. Currents / ERRA played the same amount of time and had the same production. It was pretty intense for like 3 hours with all the lights and screens. I had a good time though. Caskets also had a big crowd turn up early. My venue was sold out sold out.
Was it Raleigh? Seen some stuff on YouTube. Crowd belting out the chorus for Black Cloud and JT letting the crowd take the GORE OF BEING!! before the breakdown.
Atlanta. Similar energy but I will say, and probably because it was Sunday night and a stacked bill, but the crowd energy and attendance dropped a little for Erra. Not by a huge amount or anything, but it's it's a 1200 cap or so venue and it went from the most crowded I'd ever seen in the main floor area to feeling like 85-90% full.
Already like this quite a bit more than cure. Just feels like this band can’t quite hit chorus’ as well as I’d like, just a personal preference though
they did on the self titled but i think they set a bar too high for themselves in that regard. still love the hooks on lucid and gore but on stuff like stelliform and twilight it def feels kinda basic i miss when they just casually dropped some of the best melodies in the game in their songs. first time i ever heard remnant is a high ive been chasing ever since
this is good, but doesn’t seem all that distinguishable from their other work or any of the other dozen bands doing this same exact type of sound
Remnant is a Top 5 song for me and honestly, my favorite Jesse solo. He makes that fucking guitar sing and it's such a bluesy/jazz type solo and being a big fan of Slash, I thought it was something you'd hear him play with Myles Kennedy.
This is my fave song on the album. I haven't really listened to any other albums of theirs. Are there any other songs in their catalog with the melodic vibes like this one?
vanish canvas (although it has some screaming, its clean parts are just as poppy), past life persona, memory fiction
the beginning of In The Gut of the Wolf legit sounds like some earlier Knife Party stuff in the electronic runs. love it
Vanish Canvas, Wave, Memory Fiction, Blue Reverie. I think you'd really like Jesse's side project, Ghost Atlas. Black Cloud could easily be off one of those albums. Jesse has said Ghost Atlas is/was heavily influenced by the Cove Reber Saosin sound.
even though i cant go all in on this same way i could cure and self titled i am kinda blown away seeing the sheer size of the response to this, it rocks. like the weekly spotify albums chart just came up and it was in the us top 5. never seen anything like that for these dudes before
Self-titled was 9 or 10 when it released and Cure didn’t get a spot at all (because all the major pop artists were avoiding Beyoncé the week before) so this is a really good jump up. I wish Spotify did this with more countries/regions though. I’m curious how they did in the EU/UK and Australia.
this has been opening itself up a little with the brighter weather. the whole run from cicada siren through in the gut of the wolf is all really great
INTERVIEW: ERRA On The Freedom-Led Fun Of New Album 'silence outlives the earth' really great read about their creative process for this one
