now that volumes and northlane have new stuff out its got me revisiting all my favorites in this style and man nobody does it like these guys. one of the rare bands who were amazing right off the bat, went through a drastic lineup shift and managed to come out the other side exactly as amazing as when they started. so excited for the new one
I revisited Structures and damn. We used to be a real country. Node sounds better than ever and I’m looking forward to Volumes but only about a month left until we find out if that February 6th prediction for the new ERRA album is real.
my guess is probably not but i dont even mind lol more time to let this cycle breathe works for me. feels like next year is set up to be a huge moment for them and im so ready to bask in it
Oh right so a lot of what they seem to write seems tapping centric then? Makes me dearly miss Tom Searle as it was something he did a lot.
its a big change between augment and drift, luminesce and the t/t were written when jesse finally figured out how to do it
For someone who is out of their depth with reading music, is the red part(s) where Jesse is playing.....or that Clint switching, and Jesse is playing the top part, and then they swap again......I dunno....i don't know shit about fuck with music. Just wondering why there were two chord tracks an who is doing what.
Sort of tapping related, but I recall a year ago Jesse was in some online spat with Sebastian Bach about his guitar players being some sort of creep or asshole, I forget the details, but do recall one of Jesse's responses being along the lines of "all your shitty hairbands suck, unless your @vanhalen" and I was like fuck yeah, another reason to love Jesse. He's a EVH disciple.
gore of being is still holding strong for me as one of the best singles theyve ever put out, and like all my favorite erra songs keeps giving me more to love. that little electronic kick flourish right before the riff in the second verse is so sick and i somehow only just picked up on it
Based purely on amount of listens the new songs have to be my songs of the year. There hasn’t really been anything in metalcore this year that’s come close sadly, except maybe the new Volumes stuff, the Silent Planet/Invent Animate collab, and Orthodox. Compared to how stacked last year was for metalcore in terms of releases this year was kinda weak. Next year will be huge for ERRA and a bunch of other bands I think.
mannn there's been an insane amount of good metalcore this year, I don't agree with the sentiment that this year was kinda weak.
yeah even if we're only talking this style of core, new spiritbox, currents and northlane all rip and thats without even factoring in other core like daoboys
You are both right, I forgot about Thornhill, Spiritbox, My Ticket Home, and Stray From the Path. Not counting Northlane since it’s a rerelease (a fantastic one at that) though.
i mean thats why subgenres exist which metalcore inherently is anyway lol, i also dont really think of stray as a metalcore band i always thought they were more a hardcore band with nu elements
Reminds me of this post I remember seeing on the metalcore sub a while back https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/...ote_up_this_guide_to_the_different_types_and/
I love Alex's drumfill at the back end, after the breakdown. I feel like he never gets his due credit. He's a flawless drummer, both in Erra and Ghost Atlas. I do like Echo Sonata as the better overall song, between the two.
