Too late to be working on deluxe edition stuff, but maybe not too early for an EP/album?

Could also be them working on a cover if they’re doing Like a Version while in Australia.

Give me an Erra album produced by Jordan Fish.

Was thinking about this due to the upcoming Architects record. I feel like Jordan would work really well with ERRA because they have a strong identity that he could add a lot too.

The Heavener definitive edition didn't come out on its 1 year anniversary, so maybe it could be a deluxe for Cure. And I know there's like 4-5 songs that got cut from Cure that I think they implied would come out someday and they also mentioned planning more covers. I would certainly love an EP or album this year as well but it still feels too soon for that.

What's really interesting is that Clint is there. Jesse, Alex, and JT have been the main writers for almost a decade now.

JT and Jesse did an interview on triple j while in Australia, here’s some highlights:

    - already working on new material with Dan (this makes sense since Silent Planet often does the same thing)
    - JT made a joke about a “double, super LP”
    - want to do more covers, claims their b-sides are very strong as well
    - no deluxe for Cure as the new material is very different, Jesse calls it a “return to form” and mentions Drift

That Jack Bergin fella is a very nice interviewer, surprised they talked about new material already.

Yay for Drift; "Orchid" is still my fav song from them

Drift and Neon are still my favorites, so that’s exciting. I’ll take any and all Erra though so it doesn’t really matter. Lol

Should also note that while Jesse says no one goes into a record with the full vision all planned out before writing and recording, next year is Drift’s ten year anniversary.

The next ERRA album could literally be Drift 2 lol

This! I don't really want a Drift 2 exactly like in a carbon copy sense. But modern era Erra bringing some of that back sounds sick af.

that sound with their modern production would hit hard I think

  13. FWIW as a relatively new fan of this band I'd really appreciate the Drift sound with more listenable production. The sound quality jump starting with the self titled is insane.

  14. Oh hey I got into this band thanks to one of you recommending them to me recently and I have to say… I’m a fan!

Not gonna lie, the first couple albums weren’t for me at all. They hit all the djent metalcore cliches of their era and I particularly couldn’t stand the over the top clean vocals. I’m glad I didn’t stop there because I ended up liking each subsequent album more and more.

I love that they’ve pursued a Northlane-y direction at some point, dialing it back on some things that weren’t appealing to me and focusing instead on grooves, technical riffs at the perfect spots and just… insane hooks at times. They’ve grown into their own sound.

I’m here for whatever they do next, even though the bit above doesn’t particularly excite me. I doubt they’re going to totally regress sonically, so some sort of an update of that sound could be interesting.

Are you referring to the actual first couple albums with the original screamer (Impluse/Augment) or the first couple with JT (Drift/Neon)?

I think Impulse and Augment are actually aging super well considering how many metalcore albums from that era sound like complete dog water, they definitely hit on some cliches but the super melodic Misery Signals-esque riffs and guitar leads really hold up. Garrison smokes any other screaming vocalist they've had. Jesse's singing admittedly has come a long way

  17. The ones with the original screamer. I had a hard time telling the songs apart. Everything from the production to the songwriting etc. wasn’t for me.

I have to revisit Drift and Neon but I did like them for sure. My favorites so far are S/T and CURE.

  18. Yeah I went into that first discography run without any knowledge about line up changes, but the current screamer is insane. Reminds me a lot of Karl Schubach from Misery Signals at times.

Gotcha, I was just curious. I'm not a huge fan of those first two either. But it's been all amazing since JT joined.

  20. Guess it’s a bit similar to my journey with Northlane. I don’t care about the albums with their original singer as well.

You should check out Texas in July, if you haven't then. It was JT's band before this, their drummer is insane, and they're back together and released a new EP a couple years ago.

I'm with you on this too.

  22. Wait for real? I think I’m only familiar with their album from 2014, which was on my rotation a lot at the time and I suddenly recall a similar sounding screamer lol

impulse and augment have absolutely aged amazingly. those two albums set such a strong template for the scene and their songwriting across those albums is ridiculously strong for how dense the tracks are

cool hearing about new stuff already

I have to go back to cure. I adored a/t and cure didn’t connect for some reason
