I probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but I’d personally just start at Drift and work your way up to the new album.
Drift and the S/T are my favorites so far. Haven't really spent time with the records older than that.
I'd agree with this. The lead vocalist was different on the albums before Drift, so I think that one is a good place to start if you're into this particular sound.
the first two albums are some of the best progcore albums ever recorded so definitely don't sleep on them i'd probably go self titled -> drift -> augment for your first three, and then whether you jam impulse or neon next can be picked off what side of the band you like more, self titled is def their most representative overall still yet to jam this but everyones telling me its really good
Kind of shocked I've seen this album be polarizing online. Pretty easily as good as the self-titled for me. The only thing I found to be a negative was that too many songs end with a guitar riff fade out. And I think Past Life Persona could have been better placed on the album. Otherwise I've had random parts of every song stuck in my head since it came out.
i like where past life persona is but i think blue reverie and pale iris shoulda been swapped in the tracklist
yeah the narrative that this is their worst album is genuinely baffling to me lol. like yeah it isn't as unbelievably cracked as the self titled but that's straight up my favorite album of the last 25 years so that was never happening for me, but on it's own terms it's a really creative outing that tears down and builds up the definitions of what makes them erra while maintaining their core appeal glimpse, wave, idle wild, and blue reverie are four of their best ever and can stand up alongside the majority of the self titled album
i agree cure isn't as great as self titled, but for me self titled just held my attention longer than this one did, and the deluxe with the covers and three new songs, icing on the cake!
Just heard Orchid for the first time in several years yesterday, and man, just the perfect ERRA song. Guitar notes just so crisp and clean.
It's the song that made me fall in love with them as well, and will probably forever be my favorite ERRA song. The rawness, melodies and guitar work is just chef's kiss
been hitting this again a lot today after seeing them live, they continue to kill it onstage and these songs translate really nicely in a live setting. broke out idle wild for the first time this tour and they play that song with the control as if itd been in their repertoire for years
The more I sit with this album and all this year’s other releases the more certain I am that this and Chat Pile are my albums of the year.
this is also my album of the year. deepened my appreciation for my boys in ways i never thought possible been feelin it since day one but now im fully on board with the idea that glimpse is their best song
Been listening to it every time I play Death Stranding. Perfect soundtrack to the early sections imo These fellas deserve big things coming for all eternity.
absolutely, although as someone who got into them around 2019 i gotta say it's been beyond thrilling seeing self titled and this catapult them to levels they never were before. self titled might be my favorite album of the last like 30 years lol so its well deserved
