yeah neon is the only album to my understanding that they feel like didnt meet their initial vision for the record. part of it is also jt and jesse didnt know how to write with each other yet so they had a lot of personal kinks to iron out

the songs i love the most on that are breach, ghost of nothing, unify and expiate. valhalla is also super killer

It’s kind of astonishing how good Breach turned out to be since I heard somewhere that when Jesse first wrote the song, it sounded a lot like Doomsday before it came out and once Architects dropped that song he had to scramble and rewrite Breach.

Plus JT got sick while recording the vocals and they had to record 7 of the songs in Alex’s bedroom (JT mentioned this on his stream once, he doesn’t remember which songs though).

Circling back to this, Signal Fire is the best Neon has to offer the listener. The guitar work is gorgeous, the lyrics are emotional and relatable (plus they allude to The Great Gatsby which is nice), vocals are on point from both Jesse and JT. Just a shame about the mix.

And on the new album front, frankly I think it's fucked up that there's some Russian guy out there that knows what the deal with the album is and I don't lol

  5. My favorites on that one are probably Monolith, Valhalla and Hyperreality. Some of the catchiest hooks they ever came up with. Guess it's more of a frontloaded record for me then.

hyperreality is a pretty dope song too, super catchy hook on that and i love its solo

monolith and disarray are the only two erra songs im not terribly into and even then theyre still alright. this band is so insane

I got into Volumes recently and someone suggested to give Erra a try because it's the same sort of groove. This album is INSANE. Really excited to make my way backwards through their discog, although I understand this is probably their most 'commercial' release

this is def chiller than their other stuff but theyve always had really melodic hooks so i think you'll be good. choruses on the self titled are my favorite jesse has ever written across both this and ghost atlas but he nearly always knocks it out of the park

and yeah i absolutely love volumes too. this is what my all time lastfm looks like, absolutely crazy numbers lol

I listen to the deluxe self-titled at least once every 3 weeks. No skips, pure perfection. Not to mention "Light My Way" might be the best cover song I've ever heard. I read somewhere even Tom Morello loves it too.

Tom Morello is a good dude with good taste.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it is kinda crazy Light My Way is the cover that got a reaction from one of the original artists. I figured Muse would've said something about Stockholm Syndrome before Tom Morello.

Rumor of Light solo sounds so good like this. Also, I have a feeling he's not endorsed by Ibanez anymore which is a shame.

New album "Silence Outlives the Earth" on March 6.

    11 tracks.

    01. Stelliform
    02. Further Eden
    03. Gore of Being
    04. Black Cloud
    05. Cicada Siren
    06. Echo Sonata
    07. Lucid Threshold
    08. Spiral (Of Liminal Infinity)
    09. I. The Many Names of God
    10. II. In The Gut of the Wolf
    11. III. Twilight In The Reflection of Dreams

Last three tracks seem to be a three-parter, so we might even get their longest song since Dementia, if not longer.

Damn I was way off with my date prediction but also that's so soon. Side note, I noticed Gore of Being and Echo Sonata are now in lowercase when you use them on Instagram and it's like that on older posts too, which matches up with the initial further eden leak from December.
