It will direct here when the timer is up: http://launch.eraseme.io/launch (nothing there right now, obviously)
Definitely see where you're coming from, but that interplay between Aaron and Spencer just feels SO right. If this is an album opener, it succeeds in getting me excited for the next 10 songs.
I can hear a ton of different influences from the guys various other projects throughout the years in that track!! This record should be fascinating. An amalgamation of all kinds of styles which has me stoked!! I’m also just incredibly stoked for new Underoath! I’ve been listening to their discography all week, so this is a pleasant surprise!
Too excited! ;o that's nice some of you have already heard it and got me hyped up. I'll be waiting along with that countdown!
underoath is one of the few bands from my middle/high school years whose music still absolutely kills. new music would make my year.
If we get an album that's in the same vein of LITSOS I will be ecstatic. Of course I love the albums prior to it, but they matured and truly put out an amazing album that was seriously underrated. I think the fact that it didn't do as well as Define.. was probably more influential on Aaron and his decision to leave the band than he lets off.
Welcome back! I won't pretend to know what was most significant to him, but with this news I've happened to listen to a lot of interviews and podcasts they did around the time of the reunion, including the Bad Christian interview Aaron did around the time they were rehearsing for the riot fest appearances. And it really sounds like there were a number of personal issues between them that pushed him out, including wanting more control, that really had led to an unhealthy degree of stress.
I read those too, but that was why I said I would imagine that the last album he was on under performing may have influenced him more than he'd want to say. All of the above things you listed plus the fact that LITSOS didn't put up numbers even close to DTGL probably made him believe a solo career is the better way to go. I don't think anyone really appreciated that album until Underoath was done and the sea of bands that cluttered up the genre never even held a flame to what they did.
Nah, haven't been able to load it for the past hour. Though I did catch the single on youtube before it got pulled down this morning (and liked it). So I'm less anxious than I would have been feeling.
Let’s get this straight I’m fine without you I’m not your fucking prey So save yourself And no one else What you believe Your life is a lie Get over it You got the best of me You stabbed me in the back I taste you on my teeth You’re like a heart attack And I’m not ok I’m headed down the drain I still feel safe Down here where I belong So where were you When I fell out Went back into the dark I’m lost again So don’t come find me What you believe Your life is a lie Get over it One day you might be hungrylyrics
Are they though? Awake, to the sound of emptiness Alone in a room that's filled with the darkest of light I was told there was nothing beyond here How do I know what side I'm on How do I know what side I'm on How do I know what side I'm on How do I know what side I'm on Bred a captive with nothing but their thoughts engraved in my skin I don't belong here, but I can't find my exit This is where they all come to hunt me down, hunt me down Where they come to hunt me down, they hunt me down Weigh out the options Brave the new world I know what you're thinking Come on man, I swear you can do this Come on man, I swear you can do this I break free from this room they built for me I break free from this room they built for me This is where they all come to hunt me down, hunt me down Where they come to hunt me down, they hunt me down I tore out my naive eyes, so they locked me up I tore out my naive eyes, so they locked me up Preying on the innocent Preying on the innocent
