This song is pretty boring, feels like they repeat "looks so good" and "comes around" for 4 minutes without going anywhere
Tbh this song sounds to me like they never took a break haha. Seems like a logical progression from LC. Not a very "exciting" song but I def still enjoyed it.
On Facebook lately they talked about how Ryan and Bryan Demo'd a bunch of songs immediately after Envys last tour. This EP probably came from those sessions
Man such a good groove to Virgina Girls. My only concern is both of these songs don't really go anywhere. I hope there's some variation on the EP
Virginia Girls is better than Manic State Park That said, this was so much better live. Chorus was huge live, this is taken down drastically.
Right? I'm a little let down after how good that live performance was. Hoping Manic and Virginia are the two slower tracks.
Y'all are crazy, Virginia Girls is amazing!! Nails the sound they're going for... should've been the first single honestly. WAY better than Manic State Park.
Just got my advance of the Ritual EP. I really like it so far! Will post more thoughts after a few listens.
I write reviews for a couple sites and am on the mailing lists for some PR firms... I actually got sent a review copy without asking which was really cool haha
Damn- I'm jealous. I guess it won't hurt to wait two more days... lol. Pre-ordered the vinyl, hope it delivers in comparison to Lowcountry!
Ok now I'm super bummed... I thought it was coming out this Friday not next Let me know what songs you dig the most and the least after you've had some time to digest it! I like "Manic State Park" for the most part (I think) but the studio version of "Virginia Girls" is disappointing as hell. It has such an energy live that just doesn't translate at all on record..
So I'd say the two singles are a pretty good indication of the sound of the whole EP. It has a pretty consistent, blues-driven sound. Inhaler is probably the most high-energy track, but none of the songs are as heavy as the heavy moments on Lowcountry. That being said I think the way this EP expands on the more bluesy, melodic aspects of Lowcountry works very well for them. Very cool comeback for me, and I'm excited for future releases.
