only time i watched Dune 84 was as a drinking game. take a drink every time someone says "spice", "worms", or "spice melange". we had to split it across two days because of how much we drank. would still love to own a copy, tbh
Lynch's Dune feels different now with the Villeneuve films. The new ones are better in most ways but much less weird.
George Lucas wouldn't have tolerated Lynch's direction for Return of the Jedi for a full shooting day. He would be lucky to make it past the planning stages.
Theres a modern sleekness to all of Villeneuve's designs that runs counter the the arch feudalism in Dune. I really love a lot of the choices in Lynchs version its a shame it tries to smooch the whole book into 2 hours. The Stars wars style prologue and exposition also really hurts, just let it be weird the explaining isnt helping
I haven’t seen any of the Dunes. The shots for both that I’ve seen look fabulous. Not a huge sci-fi guy but occasionally I dip in and really enjoy something. I saw the original Solaris for the first time the other day and it was great.
I watched the first new Dune and really disliked it. Everyone said the second is much better but I don't know if I care enough to test that theory
What’s his best? I liked Mirror when I saw it years ago but need to rewatch as it mostly went over my head
I need to watch Mirror again. I think Stalker is probably the most critically acclaimed but Andrei Rublev's scale is incredible.
