Timing

 

After asking about Yorgos movies, I watched a bunch of them. I didn't love any of them in full, but I thought they're all pretty good, he makes interesting movies. Now I shall rank them for you.

Our biggest and best theater in the area closed recently even though we have had pretty consistent development and population growth. Some of the theaters don't even bother opening during the day Monday-Thursday anymore. The last showings are at 7ish during the week too.

 

we went to a local theater a few days for a new release, and our auditorium sat a good number of people (think classic multiplex, maybe a bit larger), but i think only 6 were there in total. just sad stuff

 

The post says they will have festival films yet to find distributors available to rent with this service.

 

Like halfway through watching Hoosiers for the first time only to realize that their team isn't called the Hoosiers.

 

Hoosiers is slang for people from Indiana, they deserve one good thing

 

They should put that in parentheses under the title when it pops up on screen.

 

Watched Megadoc today without watching Megalopolis and fairly certain I don't need to see it now. (Enjoyed the doc though!)

 

Megalopolis should be seen by everyone.

Extremely unlikely this happens on a notable scale at all, having your film available to rent tanks the actual acquisition process, it turns the film into a catalog film and the value plummets, filmmakers don't want this

He should have done more purely unhinged roles in his career.

I also watched the William H Macy interview today with Adam Friedland where he talked about filming Magnolia and it made me really want to watch it.

 

I actually watched Hard Eight again this week. Hoffman's cameo is maybe the best part.

Jealous you get to watch Phantom Thread for the first time

 

Watching some old Siskel and Ebert and Gene Siskel calling Kingpin funnier than The Big Lebowski is one of the crazier things I have ever heard.

 

My old blog from 2007-2009 still lives somewhere (which I won't reveal) and I gave The Dark Knight 4 out of 5 stars, absolutely hated Mulholland Dr., and didn't get the hype for Heat. Truly embarrassing stuff.
