Fun flick. PSH is good in it. I have not seen Vanilla Sky, but the best thing he is associated with is far and away Fast Times

Philip Seymour Hoffman would be good in a Zack Snyder movie. Almost Famous is exhibit A in boomer self-importance.

I may be biased because as a kid I had a classic rock/1970's fascination, and would watch both Almost Famous and Dazed And Confused repeatedly. Those were my comfort films for a few years.

I don’t think I’ve seen it since high school. I was hungover one day and put it on for my journalism class, but I was not paying attention

I like almost famous. Haven’t seen vanilla sky since like 8th grade. But what about that zoo! I can’t believe he bought it!

Also Almost Famous gave us one of the best Mitch Hedberg bits

Is Crowe gonna show all the times she did blackface? Now there is the question. She did blackface like 4 times.

i imagine it'd unfortunately be glossed over (given the runtime of most biopics) or addressed in a less-than-satisfactory way. but even as a big fan of Joni's music, it doesn't really make sense why we'd need a biopic about her career (or any musician for that matter, since most of them have been pretty bad). unless you take major creative liberties, it's not something that you can sensationalize the way they do with other biopics (especially since she's still alive). and i sincerely doubt she'd be involved in it or even want one made (unlike Elton John). it just feels like a bad idea that wouldn't satisfy anyone, fans and critics alike.

There was one season of At the Movies with Phillips and A.O. Scott after that disastrous kid critic who replaced Ebert. It was the smartest review show I had ever seen, so of course they canceled the entire thing after that season.

Unfortunately, it won't be clear how important traditional print critics are until they are gone. All that will be left will be influencer "reviewers" who really just exist as extended marketing for the movies and freelancers who try to make a living jumping from Slant to Film Comment to whatever else has a little money that day.

Was the remaster of his Tom Petty doc good? I never got around to it.

    truly abysmal lol

i "liked" it because they play the songs loud and they're like the best songs ever but the movie itself sucks
