There are two parts where I cracked a smile. One is when the killer is attacking someone at a hospital and accidentally stabs the wall with a poster of a man and he screams. The other was when Shaq shows up but that was only because I started thinking about all the other shameless things he puts his face on. In one scene they are doing The Substance and when the creature crawls out of her back it is carrying a folder that says The Epstein Files. There is no joke. It is just a reference to a thing you know. They throw in Hawk Tuah and January 6th and 6-7 and everything you might remember from pop culture. The worst part is that the theater thought it was hilarious. Maybe I am too hard on movies like Hamnet and The Whale. I think I might stop going to see movies.
My theater was pretty laughless the whole movie except for the line about eating ass the dude next to me was busting up.
It is such an angry Generation X screed. The movie literally ends with the old characters killing the new generation, which are literally their children. They haven't developed one new take or joke in 26 years.
