Went with a friend to a 25th anniversary screening of Josie and the Pussycats earlier in the week and had a great time! The place even had trivia and gave out little cat ear headbands It's really cool that the movie has become a cult film. It's wonderfully campy, the soundtrack goes unbelievably hard, and somehow there's always new jokes or gags to notice with each viewing. Easily one of my fave '00s comedies
Our indie theater had an outdoor screening of it and it had a great response, which I discovered is kind of tough for comedies because the laughs don’t have four walls to bounce off of. But everyone had a great time. An absolute gem of a movie.
Really insane to see the box office with Backrooms and Obsession (as well as the success of other recent movies like Project Hail Mary). It really feels like this has been the year they hoped the “Survive Until ‘25” was going to be and kind of the answer to if the box office can be saved without Marvel and Star Wars. Also hilarious that there have been basically no streaming movies that have made any kind of a cultural dent this year so far.
Watched this today and it was decent. Wants to be Heat with more intelligence and fails but still entertaining.
Amazon Prime has been pushing Crime 101 pretty hard too. I’ve heard it’s decent, but I am yet to watch it.
Limited series remake of Hitchcock's The Birds starting Succession's Sarah Snook in development at Universal
~box office is dominated by 2 relatively cheap films from first time filmmakers based on original (mostly) stories "actually let's adapt streets of rage to film"
It is the first day of summer school and my plan was to catch up on movies but I got stuck with the kid who brought BuzzBallz to school this year
