We always had fish in our house. We were salt water fisherman in Massachusetts , raised on flounder, cod , haddock - once a week, if not twice. We never ate pollack. AFAIK, most of the fish from fast food places is pollack. I wouldnt eat them then, or now.
My mom was an alcoholic (she still is but she basically gave herself dementia in the process so she doesn't really drink anymore because caretakers don't let her) and didn't really do a good job of raising me or my sister, we had to learn to take care of ourselves a lot and that led to a lot of shit growing up. Anyway she was also addicted to Long John Silvers and that's really the smell that stuck with me, like I don't have an aversion to the smell of alcohol but I do to the smell of LJS and it makes me feel so gross I have heard the chicken there is surprisingly good though
No one ever believes me and I was younger so my palate was less refined, but Red Lobster used to have really good wings back in the day
I live on the seacoast 10 mins from the Maine border and yet I hate all seafood including Maine lobster
When I worked at KFC back when YUM! also owned LJS my manager told me that there isn't that many LJS locations because the fish spoilage and the expensive cooking oil you need for fish makes it not very scalable.
