Don't let the normies know about Plex, WSJ. I accidentally blew up server last year and had to rebuild it, so if you need another invite let me know.
Not surprising... I bought a plex pass like 6 years ago so don't keep up with the changes they make. Bless them for doing their lifetime passes also and not monthly subs.
Yeah I just pay for the Plex subscription that lets me remotely watch my own library, but not shelling out the extra cash to share with others anymore. You can now only play on your local network for free now. Throw a VPN on your phone or flip your wifi off, and you no longer can play your own stuff.
That's what I had thought. My brother-in-law still has access to my server and I am pretty sure he paid for something without knowing, he thinks he's watching for free... I'm just going to let it be
Yeah I don't think you have to pay for anything if the owner of the server is nice enough to pay for the appropriate Plex pass
Haha I used to have this same janky set up until my Shield shit the bed last year. Now I have a 5 TB external HDD plugged into my MacBook's thunderbolt dock, but I stupidly formatted it to a MacOS-only disk format and I regret not just leaving it perpetually plugged into my old Thinkpad so I don't take my server down if I travel with my laptop lol. It already has just under 3 TB taken up, so I think I'd have to buy another hard drive and wait forever to drag them over to a new drive if I want to reformat.
