my dad is a long-time Plex user, so i get its benefits. just responding to the tweet thinking the company itself didn't exist.
don't get me wrong, I used to watch it, but feels like it could be "of the time" these days from what I remember. Big Ryan Stiles fan though
there's some later stuff with one of drew's romantic partners that they put in a fat suit which SUCKS and then in the last couple seasons his kinda weird libertarian views kinda come into play but for the most part nothing too offensive to me i guess lol
really regret not building a NAS prior to the prices skyrocketing. will have to deal with my jank external hard drive plugged into my NVIDIA Shield for now for my Plex
i've considered starting one of my own in the future, but that would require me buying a much larger external hard drive and a UHD ripper for my Mac to get the most out of everything (on top of redownloading things i have in lower quality). definitely would like to in the future, but it would be a bit of an expensive and time-consuming effort, and i think right now i have to prioritize dedicating my time and money elsewhere.
absolutely wait for prices to go down (which it appears they might start to soon). by how much? who knows.
I think you need to pay money to use my server, tbh. to be honest I don't really know much about the service other than I use it to play files from my computer on my TV and that's a nightly use for me
Free to join other people's servers. They just have to create a free account. You choose who you share it with. Only costs if you want to use some of the other features like plexamp or mobile app. (Unless they have changed it recently but I share mine with dozens of people and they don't pay anything.) (Unless Steve is saying you have to pay him for access which, if so, genius.)
Nah they limited the availability unless you pay for people to use your server, or they play for the plex pass or whatever. Happened within the year
