What are your best books of the last 5 years?

 

Released in the last 5 years or that I’ve read in the last 5 years?

I am so behind on new fiction and trying to read “classics” that I don’t have an answer for the former outside of some nonfiction texts and horror novels

 

In terms of the best books that I’ve read in the last 5 years (not including The Great Gatsby or other re-reads):
Blood Meridian
Jesus’ Son
A Portrait of An Artist as a Young Man
The Path to Paradise
The Devil’s Candy

 

I was looking for released in the last 5 years. Im in the same boat for fiction, usually end up reading classics and disappointed when I try recent releases from new authors.

I finally started reading again this year after not reading anything for a few years and I probably won’t get to any 2025 releases unless I read that Joe Abercrombie book.

 

The Actionboyz have talked about Joe Abercrombie but idk if it’s my style

I don't do a great job keeping up with new fiction aside from a couple authors, so there has probably been a ton of good stuff that I missed.

I love reading but I’m super slow with it. Really enjoyed that 3 Shades of Blue book about Coltrane, Davis, and Evans. Slowly making my way through Vonnegut now

 

Vonnegut is my favorite author. Enjoy!
