One trend I am reading people are picking up from this year's Sundance: Comedy movies are kinda making a comeback.
I don't know if there is a consensus best, but the Weerasethakul movie that really moved me the most was Syndromes and a Century. I hadn't heard his name in a while but it looks like he is making a new movie next month. The weird release strategy of Memoria really cut down what could have been his breakout.
I’ve only seen Uncle Boonmee and Cemeteries of Splendor. Both phenomenal. Dying for any of his others to hit VOD or maybe Criterion.
We watched Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and my girlfriend at the time couldn't stop laughing about the talking catfish. Truly a surreal movie.
i’m gonna blame covid but i had completely forgotten about memoria until just now but then instantly remembered a few scenes and that i loved it coming out of the theater
