I definitely had a very different reaction to you. After the first 10 mins I found I was numb to the gore and mesmerised watching the bizarre ritual of these men’s lives. Asking how can they live a life of such nonsense lead me to reflect that my life has nothing to do with logic. I dedicate 40 hrs a week to a job I don’t believe in, then I do my weird hobbies and watch the boxing and also do the boxing. And I eat meat because I always have.
Yeah this rocked. Some stuff I don’t think worked, but I appreciate them going full swing. Beautiful film, connected with it on a pretty deep level. Attempting to maintain family traditions as the older generation dies off and the younger one rebels against it is something I think about often as an only child in a large extended family.
I think the violence and gore became even harder for me to watch as it went on, as my disdain for the men and my sympathy for the bulls grew over the course of the film. I was also more hopeful towards the beginning that it was all leading somewhere more worthwhile but by the end the footage just felt less purposeful and more voyeuristic. I'm glad you had a better experience than me!
Went down a David Koepp rabbit hole. Goddamn what a career. I've been watching some of the movies he directed and I'd never of this one. Kind of like a smaller, less obnoxious Crash that takes place during an extended power outage in LA. Not exactly a great movie, but an interesting little thriller.
it rules because he'll make a masterpiece and then make a fake movie where Joseph Gordon Levitt has to solve crimes on a bike
It's so damn good, I played those CDs so much and even burned myself a bonus disc of some missing classics haha
Warner Bros. Plans to Reject Paramount's Latest Bid Despite Larry Ellison's 'Irrevocable Personal Guarantee'
I randomly put on the pilot of 30 Rock last night. When Tracy does the bit where he says "Karl Robe" I still lose it.
Went to broadway Friday 12/26/25 in NYC and saw moulin rouge. I went in blind never saw the movie etc. I went cuz I was trying all month to win the lottery and I did got a 222 seat for 49. I had to see my girl Meg Donnelly in it from American Housewife and the zombies movies. Got to meet her at stage door she’s so sweet. Also got to make a short video with her singing someday
