Yeah, Nintendo is pretty much the Disney of video games at this point haha Both in mainstream appeal and being ruthless, lawsuit-happy companies
Animal Crossing actually already has a decent movie; it was just never released outside of Japan. i'm assuming a new movie would unfortunately lean more into what Illumination did with Mario, but i'm not opposed to seeing a new take on a film adaptation.
I need an Animal Crossing adaptation where some of the villagers can be sassy little dicks like in the GameCube version
It is a sign of a dying business. When you are trying to reverse the losses you don't make the experience worse.
I started just showing up pretty late to AMC showings but then when I tried that at the independent theaters I missed the beginning. The local AMC is the closest to my house, but woefully understaffed. They don't even clean between matinee showings.
AMC is the worst about it. I’ve been to smaller independent theaters that have the movie starting 10-15 minutes after the listed showtime.
My art house that I'm now a member at is attached to a cocktail bar. We get a little bell for doors open and another for starting soon get in. They only play 10mins of trailers anyway so it's not even an issue. Also free spicy popcorn for members.
baby tongue members have the option for regular salted popcorn and one other flavour I didnt concern myself with
My art house makes all the trailers they show so I don’t mind watching them. There was a really good one set to Alex G “S.D.O.S”
I had never watched Showgirls until today and I know the general consensus on it has now flipped for the most part, but it’s pretty baffling to me that it was ever so strongly panned in the first place. It’s definitely just because of the excessive nudity, right? You can find so many reviews tearing apart Elizabeth Berkeley’s performance, but she’s not even plausibly bad? Like not even in an “oh she’s intentionally being campy so it’s fine” way. She just…doesn’t do a poor job acting. The dancing is very ridiculous at points and there’s obviously the infamous over-the-top pool sex scene, but that’s really it. Honestly I feel underwhelmed by how *not* over-the-top so much of the movie is, compared to Verhoeven’s other famous satires
They didn't understand most of Verhoeven's films. It is really hard to believe that professional critics with decades of experience would see some of these things and take them at face value.
