Materialistic was good, just not as good as Past Lives. Chuck was pretty bad but I guess it kept me relatively intrigued.
People have those handful of films they would watch as a kid over and over. The Highlander was one of those for me. I have probably seen The Highlander 100 times. Hope they do this justice.
Only ended up seeing MI, didn’t have time for the others. It was mostly bad, but saved by one very good and one all time action sequence.

This was supposed to be the first film being released under Tom Cruise's production company which signed a first look or overall deal with WB a few months ago.. hell there was a press release for it!
Without knowing any details (paywall), it sounds like Cruise might have got a little too excited about the deal and thought he was getting a blank check.
Of all the iconic lines from ID4 I think "it's time to kick the tires and light the fires!" might be the one that I have used most often
They are trying to enter the Disney space and it makes sense. Mario and Zelda and Pokemon are much more culturally relevant and full of nostalgia than Goofy or Mickey Mouse.
