My students have been presenting their independent book projects this week and tomorrow will be day three and if I have to hear one more Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, The Hunger Games, or Diary of a Wimpy Kid I am going to resign.

  13. HP is still popular among the kiddos? I mean I guess at that age the author's raging transphobia would be less likely on their minds. Their parents tho?

The real reason they choose those books is because they didn't actually read the book but at least some of them watched the movies. The rest just use ChatGPT.

Are you saying the parents would object to Rowling's transphobia? If anything, that would draw them to it in the first place.

  16. no, i don't think her being a terf would deter millennial parents, that's the sad thing, they care too much about their nostalgia and don't give a fuck about us

I think a lot more people know about Rowling being a terf than just the terminally online. They just don't care.

Third largest state in the country and not a single theater here. Limited releases treat Florida the same way touring bands do.

I remember in 12th grade english when we were introducing ourselves to the teacher for a welcome exercise thing we had to say our favorite author. 2007 17 year old me said Chuck Palahniuk. The look of surprise on my teacher's face that someone finally said an modern adult writer was unforgettable lol

Yeah a few kids did books for adults but it was mostly YA or something with a movie.
