We are putting "independent film" in a kids' table category too now?

No lies. Colman Domingo is one of the greats in both acting and style.

Adult references in kids' movies are essential to keep the parents amused.

It’s also how I learned about so many older cultural references.

I think I learned about opera classics from Looney Tunes

I was thinking about that with the Simpsons how Krusty is Bozo and Professor Frink is Jerry Lewis etc

and know I found what Ren and Ren and Stimpy is from, plus Animaniacs had so many

That genie is surprisingly culturally literate. Does he have TV inside the lamp?

This release of Stranger Things seems like the first pop culture event in forever that just about everyone around me has tuned in to. Friends, my mom, coworkers, almost all of my students. That's to say nothing of the quality, I just can't think of the last time it happened. The Marvel movies, I guess? But I feel like half the kids (and me ) were tuned out on them.

It's like the only thing she has kept up with. She also watched The Bear, but my students don't know what that is.

my mom reads like 4 books a week, watches only CBS shows and maybe 1 movie a year.
