just think if you saw it in a theater you could have saved yourself the trouble of going back all those times
see i cannot do this. i hate splitting up movies. i get a bit annoyed when i take my dogs out before starting a movie at home and then an hour in they want to go back out because they didn't shit the first time because it was cold or rainy or something
I don’t have kids so I watch movies at the theater and at home. I usually don’t go to the theater on Friday or Saturdays. Most of my movie going is done on Thursdays.
I used to care, but now I realize that it doesn't affect the experience for me at all. I watch tv shows all the time with weeks-worth of breaks between episodes, I can handle breaking up a movie into pieces too
yeah I don't have the memory to watch movies in parts also watching a shitty movie in theaters can be a blast
Breaking up movies is not ideal but what is the other option...I don't watch the movie? There are plenty of classics that I have yet to watch because I am waiting for the ideal time.
I have one friend that watches everything I watch but probably half as much at the theater. I have another friend that probably hasn’t seen a movie in the theater in 10+ years, or even any movie from the last 10 years.
I have a friend that has two kids, so him and his wife have to break up long movies into two or three-night watches. I also have a friend that only sees movies when his kid wants to go and another that loves movies but hates both theaters and (specifically) Netflix.
If it's just me watching the movie, I will try to find the time to watch it in one clip, or go into it knowing that I will stop at a certain time to get some sleep. If my wife is interested in it, I jump at any chance to watch it. That's why we're watching Godfather 2 in like 40 min chunks...
I've been to a movie theater maybe....3 times? 4? since covid hit....mostly because of covid, have needed the right match up of covid being low + movie being out that I or we wanted to see. I went to like a 10:40 showing of 28 Years Later a week or two after it came out because the theater was near empty haha
I never liked the argument that certain movies are more worthy to see in theaters than others. Before Midnight is just two people talking to each other and it was much more riveting in a theater than it would have been at home.
You were using Paris, Texas in your argument. Paris, Texas would benefit from seeing in theaters. It isn't just action spectacles.
I get more excited these days when an old movie is re-released to theaters than I am for pretty much any new movie because I already know the film is great but it will be even better in a theater. Seeing The Godfather for the 50th anniversary was like a religious experience.
I misread your Paris, Texas post. However, you should go see Paris, Texas if it ever comes to theaters. Lock the kids in their room or something.
had never seen it before but i caught the lovers on the bridge last night and i felt very lucky to get to see the fireworks sequence on a big screen in 2025
My local theater has a solid lineup over the next few weeks Go (1999) Black Christmas The Crazies Twin Peaks pilot
