    Thanks everyone!

That's what I was afraid of but maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get the DVD.

  3. I bought the Miyazaki collection a while back. It was expensive, but it's probably my favorite set that I own.

Whisper of the Heart is my favourite Ghibli film, but the only others I've seen are Kiki, Spirited Away and Only Yesterday

I saw Howl's Moving Castle in theaters but didn't appreciate it much as I should have.

A couple of years ago I took a class on fantasy films which was held in the theater on campus. My teacher showed us Spirited Away with subs and it was incredible. I also got to write a paper on Princess Mononoke.

Still need to see Ponyo though.

Princess Mononoke is incredible. I know this is rather contrarian but Ponyo is not only my favorite Miyazaki movie but probably one of my favorite movies of all time. I can seriously put that movie on at any time and enjoy it.

Zac Efron wasn't bad in the one dramatic role I can remember seeing him in (Linklater's underrated Me & Orson Welles), but he doesn't look like Ted Bundy at all.

I get this, but a fictional portrayal isn't always synonymous with glamour or glorification.

Charlize Theron in Monster might be the best performance I've ever seen. Definitely the best portrayal of a real person

One of the issues is that even negative portrayals are partly glamorous. This is the problem with war films; many of the best have anti-war messages, but people take them as patriotic and about the honor of fighting. Wall Street and The Wolf of Wall Street were deeply critical of excess, but their message is lost to people who see the fun side. The same goes for the Mafia in things like Goodfellas.
