Someone didn't watch being the Ricardos if they consider them convincing

 

This is a huge plus. The number of foreign films I've seen has hugely increased since streaming has become more prominent, which has been great. And there are a ton of movies that would have been hard to find or I never would have heard of without streaming. I'd say the biggest issue is that I almost always find out about those films from sites like this rather than the streaming services themselves. Amazon is probably the worst offender when it comes to promotion.

 

I missed House of Gucci, but wasn't it universally panned for the acting? Even Gaga?

 

No Gaga and Pacino and Driver were great, they were just in different movies

 

also leto seems to be the biggest lock of the group to get a nomination even though he was comically awful

 

It's unfortunate that the same technological advancements that have democratized access to independent and foreign films has also greatly contributed to the current state of the theater experience in this country. I ultimately think it's a good thing that more people have access to more movies, though. There was a time where the only non-mainstream movies that got wide home video releases where the awards contenders every year. Now as long as something gets picked up for distribution you can watch it online in some way. That's a huge improvement.

 

It is ironic that some people don’t consider marvel movies to be cinema and now marvel is saving the cinemas from going bankrupt lol

didn’t mention earlier but i watched the worst person in the world yesterday and it was incredible. took numerous turns that i think i’d have been less blindsided by if i were more familiar with joachim trier’s output

 

The latest Costa was the first one where it really clicked with me. The way Ventura's hand shakes as he looked across a desolate landscape says more about the conditions those people live in than any politician's speech could.

We’re getting a “Gladiator” sequel, that focuses on his character’s son Lucius in North Africa

 

He’s been saying we are getting a gladiator sequel for the past 2 decades

 

Lame. They should do the one where Russel Crowe goes to the underworld.

 

Was it ever established that Lucius was the son of Maximus and Lucilla? That seems... incorrect and out of character given that Maximus' son in the movie was the same age as Lucius and his relationship with Lucilla was before they both got married and had children with other people. So either they retconned the timeline... or Maximus was unfaithful to his wife. Or the interviewer doesn't know what they are talking about.

 

They wanted Batman to be rated R too.

Do people not die in Star Wars anymore? This is bad enough but someone told me they brought back Darth Maul in the Han Solo movie so I guess they have dragonballs or something.

 

Nobody dies in Star Wars, not even the original actors.

 

If the character's death involves falling down a bottomless pit of some kind, they are still alive.
