    it's tdk > bb > tdkr

tdkr is easily nolan's worst film

Batman Begins is less bad than The Dark Knight.

I mean, Following is Nolan’s worst film, come on now. And it’s not even bad, but it’s a calling card movie, with pretty mediocre performances from non actors.

    BB is decent
    TDK is good
TDKR is a mess, but enjoyable

The whole trilogy is solid, but I don't have much desire to watch any of them.

    I really enjoyed Following

Never saw Batman Begins but I think if I died before seeing another superhero movie, I’d be ok with it.

His Batman trilogy is the only superhero movies I can stomach

  8. Usually the only thing I like to add to Nolan discourse is that Dunkirk is great

Haven’t watched Batman Begins in years, but from what I can remember it occupies a weird space between late 90s/early 00s comic book films, modern comic book films, & Nolan films. There’s a lot I like about it, but I’ve never quite loved it.

Also been a minute since I watched The Dark Knight. Nothing interesting to say about it that hasn’t been said a billion times.

Rises is *subjectively* my favorite (as I’ve said in other threads) because it’s the most comic-book-y. Some annoying story issues in it, but I find it pretty fun.

That was the biggest thing I noticed about it. It seemed split half between what Nolan wanted (the gritty crime drama) and what the studio wanted (something closer to Burton or Schumacher).

For the longest time I had never heard of PTA's The Master, so when I heard people raving about The Master, I thought they were talking about Master & Commander.

It is so fascinating to me how many people don't know how to watch movies.

I too, think it's cool when the prospect of murdering another human is brushed off as "it is what it is". No other way to interpret that.

I also worship Jordan Belfort after his glorification in The Wolf of Wall Street. It's rad how he builds a business by ripping off people and then beats his wife. Really cool stuff.

These characters are always shown living it up and enjoying these lifestyles during the films, but that highlights how easy and satisfying it is for people to give in to sinful habits. In the end, their lives always end up crumbling around them. If your takeaway is that these people are being glorified, you're latching on to the thrill of greed and power that these characters feel and ignoring the consequences that come with them.
