I can't believe the people who get paid to write about movies. There are a dozen people on this forum who are better.

But like half the responses to that are “the vaccine is bad” so maybe all Twitter is bad and you should get off of it.

If you’re foolish enough to read through the Twitter replies to a viral tweet, that says way more about you.

Rewatching Heat, and it’s been a very good exercise in “holy shit I didn’t know that they were in this movie”

Man. The scene with De Niro and Pacino at the coffee shop. Absolutely electric, seeing them on screen for the first time together

i got to see heat on the big screen summer before last, it was an incredible time. my audience applauded during that scene as well. also i could hear the “confrontation” theme from the thief score playing before the movie started

It is going to be Aaron Sorkin and there is going to be a scene where someone eloquently explains democracy to him and everyone applauds and he walks off in shame.

  12. A Trump movie seems like something Adam McKay would do too.

It’d be impossible to make a watchable trump movie without someone who is well versed in satire and the absurd.

i'm ready for the Trump era to be over. no way i will pay to see a movie just to relive this all again, haha.

Wasn't the Wonder Woman villain a thinly-veiled Trump?

What determines the release year of a movie? When it first plays at a festival? It’s annoying to me that a movie like Nomadland is considered 2020 when most people (especially in a non-Covid year with no virtual festival screenings) won’t even have the chance to (legally) see it until 2021

Depends on a variety of things. Are you talking about award show eligibility? What it says on IMDB? Wikipedia? What are you referring to specifically?

Just in general - the year we refer to when saying “this movie came out in this year.” I wasn’t aware different groups disagree on what that would mean.

I had this thought while looking at Letterboxd classifications, because I’ve watched or found a couple things that practically nobody would have seen before 2020 but was classified as 2019 because I guess it played at some festival one time in 2019, and Wiki/other sites also list them as such.
