I’m sure it made more sense in a world where it was very possible to miss prior episodes and simply never see them again

I'll be shocked if this lasts more than 2 years. It'll be a fun novelty and nostalgia punch but I can't see me dying for new ren and Stimpy episodes after a while.

And this is coming from someone whose first pets were named ren and Stimpy

What are some examples of hyper-specific situations that shows up in unrelated shows?

For example, both Curb Your Enthusiasm and King of the Hill have an episode about a young girl getting her first period at the home of an unrelated man who has no idea what to do.

I was actually just talking about that last night while watching a sitcom. There are tons of fairly common plots that happen in those that never would in real life. Like the one where a character meets a random man that they think is either romantically interested in them or their spouse but it turns out he’s a priest and they all have a big laugh about it.

  16. would i like it even if i've never watched an episode of the cartoon?

  19. argh I remember a very specific example of this recently but now I can’t remember. I want to say there was a similar plot between episodes of friends and Seinfeld

there was something last season where I was watching two VERY different shows at the same time and that happened, very strangely specific in two shows, but who the hell knows what it was anymore

I actually had this happen recently too. I watched two shows in the same day that were made almost 20 years apart by different creators entirely that shared a super specific subplot and it felt very surreal.

THAT SCENE in Dora was the best. I only wish it were longer.
