It's sounding like there won't be a third season of True Detective

Eh I'm okay with that. Should of been a one off thing to begin with.

The problem is Pizzolatto. Fargo is pulling it off well, TD is not.

Fuck me. Limitless got cancelled. Idk if anyone else here watched it, but it managed to develop a unique voice and the writing was pretty damn good. Everything about it was just GOOD.

This was the worst cancellation season for me ever. I lost Limitless, Galavant, The Grinder, Grandfathered, Agent Carter, and even The Muppets. I honest to god thought Limitless, Grandfathered, And Grinder were sure fire renewals. All three of them did very well critically. Only shittty shows got renewed :/ can't believe Lucifer and Sleepy Hollow got renewed over these shows.

When people run multiple shows at once.

    Joss Whedon

Fourth season of Buffy: October 1999-May 2000
First season of Angel: October 1999-May 2000

Angel was given a fairly good run to start up the series, while Buffy had its worst season.

Seventh season of Buffy: September 2002-May 2003
Fourth season of Angel: September 2002-May 2003
First season of Firefly: September 2002-December 2002

Buffy was given a fairly good run to close out the series, while Angel had its worst season. Also, Firefly was so bad in its first season that it was canceled (sarcasm, obviously).

    ---

    Ryan Murphy

Third season of Glee: September 2011-May 2012
First season of American Horror Story: October 2011-December 2011

Murder House was good, but I stopped watching Glee at around the end of the third season/beginning of the fourth. In the years that followed, Asylum was even better, but then Coven and Freak Show weren't as good.

Sixth season of Glee: January 2015-March 2015
Fifth season of American Horror Story: October 2015-January 2016
First season of Scream Queens: September 2015-December 2015
First season of American Crime Story: February 2016-April 2016

I haven't seen any Glee after season three and I haven't seen ACS, but Hotel was probably the best AHS has been since Asylum and Scream Queens was a lot of fun, so Murphy must've started doing something right. Maybe it's that AHS and Scream Queens were the only two that overlapped.

    ---

    Greg Berlanti

Third season of Arrow: October 2014-May 2015
First season of The Flash: October 2014-May 2015

The first season of The Flash was fantastic. The third season of Arrow marked the beginning of its decline.

Fourth season of Arrow: October 2015-May 2016
Second season of The Flash: October 2015-May 2016
First season of Supergirl: October 2015-May 2016
First season of Legends of Tomorrow: January 2016-May 2016

Supergirl and Legends were great, while The Flash and especially Arrow were disappointing/underwhelming.

    tl;dr: They shouldn't.

Kind of bitter that Arrow and The Flash weren't so good this season; that's where this is coming from.

Once Buffy was over, Angel season five was the best. Crossovers can be fun, but I think I'd rather have what Bryan Fuller has been doing, working on one show at a time; every show I've seen of his has been solid (I still need to see Wonderfalls)

Anyone interested in seeing Tom Hiddleston as the next Bond?

Would prefer a non-white guy. I'm sure he'd be fine and I like that he's not exactly a conventional Bond-type physically, but I'd also prefer a relative unknown and let an interesting actor be as free as possible from franchise obligations (a concern I have for Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, etc)

Seems like that's been the rumor for a while, at least concerning him. Know there was also a one for a while with Idris Elba and Henry Cavill. I haven't seen The Night Manager yet, but I've heard that Tom was good in it for a spy genre type show.

I think the desire for Elba is mostly fan-driven, though I think he'd be fantastic. I also think Cavill auditioned for the role back when Craig was cast, and his name has surfaced again. He's another guy I wouldn't want juggling too many franchise obligations, not that I think he's the greatest actor in the world and would otherwise be making masterpieces or anything, but being Superman and James Bond would basically secure his filmography for 6-7 years at least, and I'd like to see actors free to take risks and work with great filmmakers rather than have to keep returning to mostly paint-by-numbers genre fare.

I just can't see HIddleston as Bond tbh, I'm sure he'll be good but I'll have to wait and see.

I know he might be getting a little old, but I still think Idris Elba would make a fantastic new take on Bond.

  16. I think fans wanted Hayley Atwell to be the next Doctor. Why not Bond as well? Now that Agent Carter is canceled...

I've liked his movies that I've seen (Once and Sing Street) but John Carney sounds like an asshole in how he criticized Kiera Knightley. Glad Mark Romanek spoke out in support of her, she (and everyone) were really, really great in Never Let Me Go.

Cinetopia in Detroit this weekend, looking forward to seeing some indies that just aren't going wide. Heard interesting things about the Alchemist's Cookbook, which showed at SXSW, looking forward to catching that tonight. Just generally happy that the city is excited about unique and interesting movies. A little drunk, too.

They are trying to develop a live-action Archer movie and the producers want Jon Hamm. This is the best news.
