Ending was fine, can’t really see why people want to be upset about it. I understand having a connection to the original. It doesn’t erase it?

It is a pretty decent time to go see movies. Mission Impossible will at least be entertaining, Final Destination will deliver at least what you would expect, and the guy from the 55 burgers 55 shakes skit is in Friendship which is pretty wide now.

  12. In the past month I've seen Final Destination, Friendship, Until Dawn, Rosario, The Wedding Banquet, and Thunderbolts. I just don't post about everything in here. But when I make one post about something I haven't seen suddenly the thread explodes

I really want to see Friendship but I don't think it even has a UK release date yet.

I hate action movies aside from comic book stuff and I saw enough bad Final Destination movies back in high school lol

Sinners still pulling in $11 million in its sixth week is still pretty incredible.

I think it’s good that a movie that was originally a Disney+ exclusive is making over $300 million opening weekend. It shows that theaters still attract people and not just streaming services

plus iirc, the new head of Disney's film division (who was previously leading stuff at Fox) said something along the lines of wanting to prioritize original ideas over remaking old IP, so i don't know how much longer Disney's live action output will focus on remakes

Not to cape for lazy IP stuff, but that’s sadly needed to get butts in seats and families in theaters. It’s easily avoidable and forgotten shortly after. If that’s what it takes for theaters to skate by (and to help set a foundation for kids that going to the movie theater is an exciting experience) so they can book more adult stuff that will generate way less money, I’m not that concerned with it.

  21. disney is definitely an evil big bad corporation whose moral values are going backwards but if the success of their movies keeps theaters afloat for us to see the good stuff it's not entirely a bad thing

also, if a movie seen by a lot of people portrays asian americans in a good way, maybe their perception of us can change for the better. i'm always gonna want better representation for every marginalized community whether i'm a part of it or not. i'm sure the vast majority of ppl don't have the same issues with the film as i do and that's okay

if more ppl saw asians on the big screen would it have stopped bigots from blaming asians for covid and attacking us? honestly, idk. one can hope.

i don't think marvel and star wars are this scourge on society that ppl on here make them out to be. if we can get a shang chi and ms marvel every few years, i don't think it's doing more harm than good.

The most mindblowing thing I learned from that Paul Reubens HBO doc was that the Pee's Wee's Big Adventure movie actually came out before the Pee Wee's Playhouse show. As a kid in the 90's I always thought the movie was made because of the show, not the other way around.
