I feel like it’s been like this for a few years now?

 

I feel like it’s been this way for awhile. It’s just now actually in writing.

 

You're not wrong about the special screenings thing, but he's saying this is the first time he's encountered it and the dude reviews a lot. Social reactions have usually been shared by everyone. I've never seen social reactions broken up over a week like that. Yeah actual reviews come out like a week or two later, but controlling which social reactions are allowed by how you feel seems to be a new thing.

 

This just broke me

 

You get people like that Supes and Blu Ray Angel and other influencers who get invited to movie premieres and screenings before movie critics who and who they do say nice things and kiss ass to some of the actors involved when they meet them

 

I see. I get what you’re saying now.

 

Yeah, I follow a few cosplayers/conventionally attractive influencers who have nothing to do with movies that get invited to press junkets and premieres and I guess I have no idea what the endgame there is.

 

Like DiscussingFilm, who I appreciate being an aggregator of news, gave Hurry Up Tomorrow a fairly glowing review and just so happened to have an exclusive interview with him. lol

 

The endgame is the parasocial fans going to see the movie now because they did.

 

The funny thing is they barely advertise the movies. They show the trinkets they get from the press people, red carpet photos and maybe a “Thanks Netflix!”

 

You'd be shocked how little is enough for those people. I've wandered into far too many comment sections like the fool I am. It's a scary world and idk how we're not taking parasocial relationships like a huge mental health crisis. It's just going to get worse and escalate.

 

It is a very fine line when you start attending those screenings or taking merch or any of that other stuff. Even when you talk about traditional critics there is still a matter of who owns that newspaper or television studio or website. We know Jeff Bezos steps in editorially for news at the Washington Post, so who is to say that a critic in that newspaper is writing fairly about an Amazon-backed film?

 

Paying influencers to go to movies is just advertising. And as far as advertising goes it's non intrusive and promotes people going to the cinema.

 

I would have thought they would have shot for more than that.

 

There was reports that they shot enough footage to split into 2 parts but then again I don't know if they already done it yet or they about to reshoot the entire third act and apparently Michael Jackson's estate have been causing issues during this making of this film and last year at CinemaCon after they showed the trailer one of the main producers said it's not gonna be a puff piece either.

 

Sorry, I was joking that they only shot for 3 and a half hours. Like total film shot.

 

Nah it's fine! I am a sucker for a music biopic, I am hoping it would be more A Complete Unknown and not a Bohemian Rhapsody in terms of quality

 

I tend to avoid most biopics haha

 

What kind of animal are they doing? Id probably go with flamingo
