I LOVED Anaconda when I was little but as a 9/10 year old who had been obsessed with snakes since I was little, it was pretty taylor made for me lol

 

I wanted to rewatch it but nervous it doesn’t hold up.

 

Watched the first Final Destination with my son last night. It’s so tame compared to the sequels haha.

 

And that's with Sean William Scott getting his head cut in half

 

Anaconda holds up, the second one is also very funny to me

They're doing "bleak week" at the local theater.

The Turin Horse, Come and See, Dog Tooth, Synecdoche NY, The Piano Teacher, Salo or 120 of Sodom, Christiane F. and Killer of Sheep.

Can't image watching Salo with a crowd.

 

Anyone going to see salo should be arrested

 

Synecdoche might be interpreted as bleak, but it is in a very different way than the others.

 

I haven't seen Christiane F. or The Piano Teacher but agree that Synecdoche seemed "tame" compared compared to the others

 

Salo is one of those films that I have experienced and I will accept the academic interpretations of its importance but will never watch again. Life is too short.

 

Thinking about bringing the boys to Salo so we can yell Chicken Jockey and throw shit at the screen.

 

Watched Salo last month, it was super interesting to read about after.

 

Eephus was great. Any other movie similar to this or bloody nose empty pockets?

 

I saw Ed Begley Jr at Cruel World Fest in LA this weekend. Tony Hawk too.

 

Nashville (1975) is not quite Bloody Noses Empty Pockets, its grander in scale but its very much hanging out in America and the music is sick.

 

The Ross Bros other films are worth checking out. I’ve seen Tchoupitoulas and Gasoline Rainbow so far

 

I also think Eephus would fit in pretty well with Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some or the Before movies in terms of how they deal with the passage of time.

I was inspired enough by my first watch that I am considering showing it to my film class on one of the last days of school. I would definitely prefer to show it over the Gatsby adaptation I will need to show my honors class. Comparing Gatsby refusing to let go of what’s already gone (or never been) to the guys in Eephus would make for a good final writing assignment, I just don’t know if it’s engaging enough

 

As someone who really liked “Talk To Me,” was not a fan of “Bring Her Back” and I’ll fully say it’s a me thing. Just overly bleak and mean for not much reason.
