XXL might actually be better than the first one. Just a great road trip movie. I never finished Last Dance. It was pretty bad.

 

It is better. The first film had that really bad nepo baby with no chemistry opposite Tatum.

I love Soderbergh's cinematography in Magic Mike XXL, I love Magic Mike XXL as a film about the importance of authenticity in artistic expression, I love Magic Mike XXL as a work operating in the female gaze, I love Magic Mike XXL as a film about masculinity, it's one of my favorite feel-good films ever made. The first one is solid, I especially loved McConaughey's performance and strip scene, but his commercials for AI with Woody Harrelson that I have to see 100x during sports are almost enough to make me wish Linklater had never put him in Dazed & Confused.

The only Last Dance I watched was the Michael Jordan series. I had a bad feeling about the latest Magic Mike, and XXL seemed a fitting end to the character.

 

Yoda and Obi-Wan were both in Coruscant during the coup and easily could have gone to stop Palpatine together and then taken care of Anakin afterwards. Instead, aware that they were two some of the last living Jedi, they decide to split up just because

I thought that as well. Why split up when you have that tactical advantage? By the time Anakin could even get back you would have restored order.

The turn should have started midway through the second film. Anakin dispatches of the Trade Federation and Palpatine wipes out the Jedi in a montage. This Republic that has stood for thousands of years falls worse than a banana republic.

Debating the prequels is like New Again in the TBS thread. Everything there is to say about them has been said, but they won’t stop coming up.

I meant the love interest, Cody Horn. She was in that and a few episodes of the Office but she has disappeared from the industry.

 

Ahh right. Well it’s funny they wrote her out too. I do not remember her from The Office at all. But I’m guessing it was one of the later seasons.

I've seen videos of people cheering when Anakin kills the kids and they scream quote almost all of the big fight. I don't know if it is as big as chicken jockey though.

 

If you're sitting in the theather and don't yell out "My allegiance is to the republic, to democracy!" then I don't think you're a true lover of the prequels. The only acceptable time to yell at a movie screen that isn't a horror film.

 

The local theaters have been showing a lot more classic movies since the pandemic and I was so worried people were going to ruin The Big Lebowski by shouting. I was fortunate for a silent audience.

 

Well she is married to Reid Carolin who produced (and wrote) all the MM movies so it makes sense on why she was in part 1.

But yeah, she's doing just fine I'm sure.

 

XXL is a fantastic movie about how men, as a cultural group, have no respect for womens’ pleasure and what happens when you take it seriously. It’s a great reaction to the response to the first movie
