If a bad Star Wars can make that kind of money, why don't they release the good ones?

The kids that grew up on it don’t view it as the bad one and probably haven’t had many chances to see it at the theater

It’s the 20th anniversary that’s why it was released and it’s an enjoyable one.

It is always some sort of anniversary somehow. They will sell tickets.

As regards to the quality, I would assume a lot of people are there at least somewhat ironically. There are videos of people cheering when he kills the kids.

Sometimes this thread feels like fun as a concept has never existed.

Episode 1 and 3 are good actually and episode 2 has its moments and really the worst part is the terrible script for Anakin/Padme scenes. And yeah Hayden wasn’t the best at acting in those scenes either but he was fine otherwise.

  15. there is nothing fun about III. the prequels get worse as they go and III only seems marginally tolerable in the shadow of IX

3 is easily the best prequel movie, so not really

I tried to rewatch the prequels some years ago and they are all very bad. There are other movies that are a better use of time to think about and see.

2 is easily the worst prequel.

I guess it’s a blessing and a curse that I didn’t have the SW movies as formative memories for me growing up. On one side, sure I missed out on whimsy and wonder and enjoyment as a child. On the other side, I don’t need to waste my time watching them bleed the series dry

My dad pulled me out of school to see all three prequels so they were big childhood movies for me but I kinda have zero nostalgia for them. The fact that they’ve been memed to death over the last 10 years or whatever also means I have no desire to hear audiences yell lines at the screen.

Revenge of the Sith is the "best" one, but that is faint praise. It starts in the middle of a battle with a new enemy no one had ever heard of before if you didn't consume supplementary materials, the climactic battle people had been wanting to see for years was way too long and way too effects-driven, Padme just sort of dies because they realized they had to do something with her, they shoehorned in Chewbacca for a needless cameo, and Yoda condemns the entire galaxy to a dictatorship because he was in the middle of an evenly-matched fight and fell down.

Magic Mike 2. It's actually a good movie but his praise was so high it must have reached Tatum himself.

That's the thing, though. You don't have to stay on the ride just because of the childhood attachment. There was nothing I loved more when I was six years old than the Power Rangers but you would have had to physically force me to sit through that reboot movie.
