Who is the best actual actor in the Fast and the Furious movies? Helen Mirren and Rita Moreno are not real members of the crew.

 

what counts as the crew? are we cutting out kurt russel or charlize since they're a side-character and a villain? if so, i'd probably say statham. not the most range in the world but he's more effective at what he does than anyone else in the movies imo.

the rock has tried and failed many times to make a movie like the beekeeper that statham seems to cruise through at a higher level

 

whenever Jordana Brewster and Luda are in something I say hell yeah but I'm not sure they're great actors per se, although him and Michael Pena were the only ones to walk out of Crash unscathed lol

 

i mean, brendan fraser won an oscar even if it was fraudulent haha

 

also sandra bullock was very memorably in that sack of shit and she was one of the worst parts of it

 

I meant the only ones who were watchable in it haha

 

Theron comes to mind. Idris Elba too.

It is so hard to judge because the parts are so flimsy that John Cena is doing it about as well as any real actor could.

 

cena did come to mind. trying to think of their work outside of that franchise, cena’s comedy chops are pretty good but he’s no dave bautista when it comes to more dramatic roles, not that he takes them a ton

i think idris was only the villain in one of the spinoff movies though so it would seem odd to count him but not helen mirren

 

Well MIrren is so obviously ahead of the others. It becomes less Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James and more Michael Jordan vs. a guy at your gym.

I keep imagining someone like Daniel Day-Lewis being broke and taking a role and trying to ask Vin Diesel about his characters' background and motivation and just getting blank stares.

 

In terms on who's the best actor of the fast and furious franchise well Helen Mirren is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else but Idris Elba in Hobbs and Shaw understood the assignment in that film and was a lot of fun and Vanessa Kirby as well. Cole Hausler in 2 Fast 2 Furious was a great villain, in terms of the the fast "family" The Rock was legit brilliant in Fast Five because he actually got to play Luke Hobbs the character and was proper bad ass, enjoyed him in 6 and 7 but then the Luke Hobbs character was watered down from 8 onwards.. Jason Statham was awesome as Deckard Shaw in 7 as the villain, John Cena I enjoyed him in Fast 9 but he was way better in Fast X, I always enjoyed the Ludacris and Tyrese comedy duo bit, and Sung Kang as Han is the coolest of the franchise... Now Vin Diesel.. he was great in the original fast and furious but I swear from 5 onwards his acting is getting worse as the franchise goes along!

As far as the Fraser comeback, his role in Killers of the Flower Moon was much more fun. His character's energy is so removed from the rest of the movie that it really jolts you back in if you were starting to feel the length. It almost feels like bad acting until you realize that that is exactly the type of legal strategy they would have used.

 

it took me probably until my third watch to feel that way but i agree. the first two times it just stuck out like a sore thumb without the context of why it might be doing that.

 

I am certain he shot his scenes after filming of The Whale wrapped, he did a couple of other films before the oscar win

 

The Rock was legit in Fast Five, but I would guess he is also to blame for the character becoming an annoying winking at the camera guy after that. He’s funny in The Other Guys and solid in Moana too. I’ve never seen Pain & Gain but he gets praise for that. I’m not sure you can count Southland Tales for any actor involved. I guess we’ll see how he does in the Smashing Machine.

I’d reluctantly go with Statham as well. He plays the same guy in every movie, but what a guy that is.
